Poem about a candlestand

Poem about a candlestand
(From the exhibition "Indian art 1550-1900 (Room 41))
Victoria and Albert Museum

"There I stand,
white as an angel,
waiting for a candle,
to burn me down.
Where have you been,
where have you lit?
I have been waiting,
all day and all night.
I only see you when it's dark,
but then you burn out,
but I know I'll see you again."

Poem by Amanda, Astrid K., Astrid B., Cecilie M. and Emilie
